#OnThisDay in 1942, the U.S. entered into the Battle of Midway. The U.S. Navy, still reeling after the destruction at Pearl Harbor just six months prior, surprised and defeated the Japanese fleet with a smaller, less combat-experienced U.S. force. Losing four carriers, the Japanese navy was dealt a blow from which they would never recover. 79 years later, we continue to pay tribute to those that made it happen. #Midway79 #WWII | United States Navy Band
